The 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love' group will take to the stage in front of thousands at Donington Park later today.
The Darkness will precede headliner Def Leppard on the main stage this evening, in what will be their first show together since reforming earlier this year.
Frontman Justin Hawkins told Kerrang: "We're terrified, but in a good way. We've missed the daunting-ness. It's one thing to play to your fans - that's an awesome experience - but we haven't done anything for a while that involves hostility."
Hawkins also teased details about the band's upcoming third studio album, likening the sound of the record to their debut.
"Spiritually, we're in the same place we were back then. I live back in my little town, so it's kind of like the first record again," he said.
The Darkness recently unveiled plans to embark on a world tour in 2012.
