The 'All Summer Long' singer held a press conference along the banks of the Detroit River two weeks ago to formally announce that he will take the stage on August 12 at Comerica Park.
Ticket demand for the gig was so high that Kid Rock has added a second date for the following evening.
Former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar and his Wabos will be the support act for both shows.
Kid Rock was born in Sterling Heights, Michigan, but spent a great of his youth in Detroit as a member of the break-dancing troupe Furious Funkers.
Aside from his homecoming concerts, Kid Rock will also play a series of live dates this summer alongside his 'Collide' duet partner Sheryl Crow. Their tour begins July 2 at the Riverbend Music Centre in Cincinnati, Ohio.
