The musical legend was honoured at the theatre's spring gala event on Monday, with Tony Bennett presenting him with a special award.
Wonder started his career as 'Little Stevie Wonder' at the Apollo in 1962 at the age of 12.
The 'Superstition' singer proudly accepted his award, saying: "It's a moment to cherish and remember, relishing in the memories of the times that I've been at the Apollo, as well as this night, the great people that came out to support me being here.
"It's a great thing to be one of those people in the Hall of Fame for the Apollo."
Wonder also performed at the event, along with Bennett, hip-hop artist Doug E. Fresh and Paul Shaffer.
Previous inductees into the Apollo Hall of Fame include the likes of Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown and Michael Jackson.
Wonder revealed in April that he would be interested in becoming a judge on The X Factor.
