Hayes, who fronted the band until their split in 2001, said that he will always play their biggest hits because they are part of pop culture.
Asked if he gets bored with performing Savage Garden's 'Truly Madly Deeply', he told Digital Spy: "Honestly no! I think It'd be arrogant to feel that way. My feeling is that I don't really own those songs anymore - they're part of pop culture.
"If the audience wants to hear them, then I'm going to play them. I'll mess around with them a bit to keep it interesting, because it's frustrating when you see artists refusing to play their biggest hits."
Hayes continued: "Oddly enough, though, I played a gig recently where we genuinely forgot to play my two US number one singles!"
Hayes releases new single 'Talk Talk Talk' on June 24.
