U2's Bono has revealed his frustration at having to pull out of last year's Glastonbury.

The Irish band's frontman, who is performing at the festival for the first time this Friday, described the pain of cancelling his set in a video on the U2 website.

"This is not very rock and roll. This is a different kind of rehab," he said in the clip, filmed after his operation.

"They've explained to me that apparently I'm not indestructible. The drugs by the way are very good," Bono continued.

"U2's never played Glastonbury - I was really looking forward to it. I actually cannot believe this has happened. Really sad, disappointed, pissed off about that - this is, actually, Spinal Tap."

Last year, the band were replaced at the last minute by Gorillaz, although U2 guitarist The Edge made a guest appearance on the Pyramid Stage with Muse.
