Back in February it was confirmed that the 'Forget You' singer would serve as the opening act for Rihanna for the entirety of her 14-date tour of North America.
However, the NY Times has now confirmed that Green has decided to step down from the tour due to his hectic work schedule.
"He always puts 100 percent into his work, and with the requirement and time commitment to The Voice, on top of heading back into the recording studio and an upcoming book, he feels that he wouldn't give his fans the show that they deserve," a spokesperson for Green said.
Green recently confirmed that he will soon begin work on a follow-up to Gnarls Barkley's 2008 album The Odd Couple, as well as a new album with hip-hop act Goodie Mob.
The singer denied claims that his decision to leave the tour has anything to do with the controversy over his supposed homophobic comment on Twitter.
Green's final two appearances on the current season of The Voice will air this week.
