The band announced that they were to begin work on the new album following their performance at the Lollapalooza festival in April, and Flowers has said that they are already feeling good about the new material.
"We have about four or five [songs]," Flowers told Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 this week. "We've put them up on the board and they're sounding good."
"We think they're strong," he added.
Flowers admitted earlier this week that he was nervous about the band's return, and said that the first few gigs together would "definitely be nerve-wracking".
The band made their UK festival return this weekend with a headline slot at Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park, London.
Following a brief hiatus during 2010 while Flowers released his first solo album, The Killers announced their return in January.
