The Icelandic singer will make her only outdoor festival appearance of the year worldwide to close the annual Isle of Wight event on Sunday, September 11.
"Rob Da Bank and the Bestival crew are violently happy to announce that the one and only Björk will be playing her only outdoor festival show in the world this year as Bestival 2011's Sunday night headliner, joining the previously-announced bill toppers The Cure and Pendulum," a statement on the festival's official Facebook page read.
A statement from festival curator Da Bank on the festival's official website said: "I honestly can't believe Bjork is coming to Bestival," further describing her as "one of the most iconic musicians of the last century".
Björk is currently in the UK to premiere her new album and mixed media project Biophilia at the Manchester International Festival. She has said that her latest material was inspired by both nature and modern technology.
Da Bank also confirmed on his personal Twitter account that dubstep musician James Blake will perform a DJ set before Bjork's headlining show.
The Cure, Pendulum, Kelis, PJ Harvey, Public Enemy, Primal Scream, Santigold, Brian Wilson and Professor Green will also appear at Bestival.
Coverage of the festival, which takes place at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight between September 8 and 11, will be carried in 3D by Sky Arts.
