The musical acts, together with various other bands and soloists, will feature on a three-disc compilation called Live From Nowhere Near You: Volume Two to raise money for Outside In, an organisation that helps homeless youths.
The compilation CD is scheduled for release in the US on July 19 and possibly in the UK by August 15. It will feature a cover version of Marvin Gaye's 'Mercy Mercy Me' by Homme, Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and The Strokes band members Julian Casablancas and drummer Fab Moretti.
Ryan Adams, Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst, Elliott Smith, Modest Mouse, James Mercer from The Shins and Gang Of Four's Dave Allen will also feature on the record, according to Pitchfork.
The Strokes' bassist Nikolai Fraiture revealed last week that they are planning to record the follow-up album to this year's Angles "as soon as possible", adding: "If we could do it tomorrow, that'd be great."
Pearl Jam member Jeff Ament revealed in March that they also want to make a new album this year, saying: "We did a whole bunch of demos and everybody's got a disc of 25 [songs] right now."
