The X Factor starlet, who unveiled the video for her debut solo single 'Swagger Jagger' yesterday, said that she admired Minaj's ability to cause "trouble".
"I would love to work with Nicki in the future but I'm still the new kid on the block," Lloyd told RWD Magazine. "I love her 'cos she's trouble and her lyrics are real."
'Swagger Jagger' will serve as the first single from Lloyd's as yet untitled first album, which is due for release in November.
The LP will feature a collaboration with Busta Rhymes, which Lloyd described as "an anthem for my generation".
Other stars reportedly approached to work with Lloyd include Lady GaGa, Britney Spears, Rihanna and Keri Hilson.
17-year-old Lloyd this week denied accusations that she is trying to copy the style of her X Factor mentor Cheryl Cole.
