The pop-rock four-piece admitted that they have been thinking about the follow-up to 2010's Above The Noise, which reached number 20 in the UK album chart.
Tom Fletcher told the Daily Star: "We have lots of new ideas."
Drummer Harry Judd added: "People thought we went more pop or more rock last time, which surprised us, but McFly are here to stay."
Bandmate Danny Jones has been in the studio with DJ Roger Sanchez writing new material in recent months, but insisted that it will not get in the way of a new McFly record.
"I have some songs with DJs coming out this summer but McFly is my priority," he confirmed.
McFly previously told Digital Spy that they plan to work with US producers for their next record, naming recent collaborator Dallas Austin and Britney Spears-hit maker Max Martin as their favourites.
