The 'She's Always a Woman' star was set the challenge by Q magazine and asked followers on Twitter for help with the song, which will be released to raise funds for War Child.
The track, titled 'Super Injunction', was created by fans' suggestions and contributions over the past day. Users could participate by using the '#qsong' hashtag.
Tweets from Dangerfield throughout the morning have given clues as to what the record might sound like.
"I need a phrase that sounds and scans like "i'll never come back" but isn't. #Qsong i mean i might just sing that but you can always try (sic)," he wrote at one point.
Dangerfield also addressed followers directly to call upon favours: "you don't fancy recording some harp tonight or early tomorrow morning do you?! can you record at home? X"
Just before midnight last night, he asked: "one thing- anyone have access to a big group of children who are prepared to shout a few things in the morning and be recorded?"
At 2pm this afternoon, Q magazine announced: "It's 2pm, @fyfedangerfield has written Super Injunction with your help. A bit of mixing and then you'll hear it #Qsong (cash 4 War Child)"
It is not yet clear whether the track will premiered today or later this week.
Guillemots have described the sound of their forthcoming fourth album as "intense".
