The 'Rio' frontman recently had to cancel a handful of UK tour dates as he underwent treatment for a recurring throat problem. The band moved the shows to the end of the year while they continued with their European tour.
However, Le Bon has been urged to continue with his physiotherapy treatment, which means postponing their European dates as well as cancelling appearances at this year's iTunes Festival on July 16 and V Festival on August 20 and 21.
The 52-year-old singer explained that the injury was "an internal one and so no-one can tell me exactly how long it's going to take to mend completely".
"I need to take some more time away from shows to get back to full strength," Le Bon said.
"If we knew exactly when that might be, we wouldn't have to let this entire run of dates go, but what we feel we can't keep doing is moving shows piecemeal as it's just not fair on the fans."
He added: "I am doing everything I can to work through this and get back on track as soon as possible."
No confirmation of rescheduled European tour dates has yet been released.
