The pop four-piece said that when they worked on the track with RedOne - who also produced Lopez's 'On The Floor' - they suggested the "LA to Africa" line and that the fact the lyrics appear in both songs is completely coincidental.
"It's so funny, basically, we came up with it ourselves, because they never use Africa in songs, so we did it, then it happened that Red-One said, 'Well - I've already used that lyric!'" band member Aston Merrygold explained at the opening of M&M's World Store in Leicester Square, London.
Speaking about the single's guest vocalist Dev, Marvin Humes described the Californian-born singer as a "massive talent" and expressed how happy the band were to work with her.
"We wanted a female rapper, and Dev was suggested. She is very, very hot right now, so, it made sense for us to get her in, really," Humes revealed.
"She has totally blown up in the States right now, she has just done a song with Kanye West, and obviously 'Like a G6' was massive last year. She is a massive, massive talent out there."
JLS's new single 'She Makes Me Wanna' will be released in the UK on July 24.
