The 'Goodies' singer has suffered sales setbacks in recent years, with her previous album Basic Instinct peaking at number 44 in the US and not managing to chart in the top 200 in the UK.
Citing a difference in artistic vision with her material, Ciara claimed back in February that she "prays" her label Jive will release her from her contract.
Since LA Reid's departure from Island Def Jam earlier this year to join the panel of The X Factor USA, it has been widely believed that he would take a chairman position at a Sony Music Group label.
It was then announced that the company would restructure its labels, with RCA and Jive splitting and the latter being engulfed by Epic, which Reid will now head.
The move means that Ciara has now found herself with Epic Records and her music career will be handled by Reid, reports Billboard.
Reid has also been handed the task of looking after Usher and is speculated to be luring Mariah Carey back to Sony 12 years after she left the company's Columbia Records in 1999.
There have also allegedly been talks on bringing Jennifer Lopez back to Epic after Reid managed to move her to Island Def Jam six months before he left.
A high-ranking industry insider said of Ciara's move: "LA is one of the only people inside that company that has his finger on the hip-hop music scene, and if you look at the Billboard Top 20, that's what it's all about. He's a good A&R guy and he'll do a good job."
