The musician told fans on Twitter that the release is a "record label bulls**t move", and that they should "ignore" it.
Reznor released a remastered version of the album last year. It also included a new track, a cover of Queen's 'Get Down, Make Love'.
However, he has revealed that this latest reissue is not a true remastered version, and is "very similar to the original release".
"NIN fans, don't waste your money on this version of PHM that was just released," he wrote. "[It is] a record label bulls**t move repackaging the old version. Ignore please."
Reznor is currently working on the soundtrack for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with his Social Network co-writer Atticus Ross.
He is to make a cameo appearance as a vampire hunter in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
