Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder is desperate to kick his smoking habit after helping friends and his bandmate do the same.
The singer said he has helped his bandmate Mick McCready get through hard times but others weren't as lucky.
"Mike McCready has been through all kinds of stuff, and we have supported him through it," he said. "But we've lost a number of friends who we just couldn't help."
"And me? No drugs, no, but I can't seem to stop the cigarette smoking. Another couple of attempts, though, and I might just get my life back," Vedder said.
