The Fans First Coalition seeks to end scalpers' ability to purchase large amounts of concert and sporting tickets and then resell them at greater than face value.
The organisation also objects to some online ticket merchants' attempts to falsely market themselves as endorsed by artists in order to command higher prices.
Maroon 5's Adam Levine said of his band's involvement with the Fans First Coalition: "We need to make sure that fans get the tickets, and not scalpers. Fans First is fighting to do just that. Our band wants our tickets to be sold at the face value that we set, so that the real fans can get the tickets - not scalpers."
John Mayer, the Dixie Chicks, Jason Mraz and Jennifer Hudson have also backed the Fans First Coalition's attempts to create a fairer online ticket buying experience.
Levine recently revealed that Mick Jagger has endorsed Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera's new single 'Moves Like Jagger'.
