The N-Dubz rapper is currently preparing to release his first solo single 'No Regrets' on September 18. One line includes: "I'm a Prince and yes I will get the crown/Kate stays in my dungeon when her sister's round."
Speaking about his new music, Dappy told The Sun: "I really want to earn the respect of an older audience.
"I don't think there's any shame in trying to write music that will be recognised by people I admire, like Adele. Even Bono."
He continued: "I have big goals. I want to have two number one singles back-to-back as a solo artist."
The star also declared that he wants to do better than fellow artists Tinie Tempah, Chipmunk and Tinchy Stryder.
"Those guys are my friends and they have set the mark really high for solo artists," he added. "I want to do better than them. There's nothing wrong with aiming high. They are friends but also competitors and I want to be the best."
Dappy recently claimed that popstars who don't write their own music shouldn't be eligible to chart.
