The band - formerly known as Dexys Midnight Runners - released their third and last studio record Don't Stand Me Down in 1985 and split a year later.
Dexys reformed in 2003 and recently confirmed plans to release new material.
"Here is the opening minute of the new Dexys album, due in 2012," a message read on the band's official YouTube channel. "The song is called 'Now'."
"In the past there was Dexys Midnight Runners. From now on there is Dexys," an image accompanying the clip read.
Previous posts on the group's official Twitter page had revealed ongoing progress on the record and the involvement of founder member 'Big' Jim Paterson.
"Big Jim came in last week and rehearsed a song for the album, he's only playing on one but has been involved in writing a few of them."
Ex-Creation Records boss Alan McGee recently defended Dexys frontman Kevin Rowland's controversial 1999 solo album My Beauty.
