Alexandra Burke has denied reports that her upcoming second studio album has been delayed until next year.

Earlier today, The Sun reported that Burke had delayed the release until early 2012 in order to avoid album releases from other X Factor acts such as Matt Cardle, One Direction, Leona Lewis and Cher Lloyd.

However, the 'Bad Boys' singer has now taken to Twitter to respond to the claims, saying: "So, maybe it's time to clear some rumours.

"It has been reported that my second album has been delayed until 2012. It's no fun when rumours upset my fans."

Burke explained: "Just to let my amazing [fans] know that rumour couldn't be further from the truth. I have been working so hard with RCA to make it right for you all.

"I'm so excited for you all to hear what's been going on and all the magic being created. I thank you all once again for your patience."

Burke added that she would never rush-release her album, but if any such delay did occur, she would let her fans know first.

"Music should never be rushed. If I feel it isn't ready, then I won't release it till it is. But if that's the case you will hear it from me first," she insisted.

The 2008 X Factor winner has been working on the new record since last November. She previously told Digital Spy that the new album will "be a lot sexier and a lot more fun" than 2009's Overcome.
