The singer's second studio LP has matched a record set by the Bee Gees' Saturday Night Fever in 1977, which also spent 18 weeks at the top of the UK chart.
In total, there are only eight albums that have surpassed Adele's run as number one in UK chart history.
Simon & Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water managed to tally up 41 weeks at the top back in 1971, while other notable chart-dominators include The Beatles' 1967 album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and 1965's The Sound Of Music soundtrack.
21 recently surpassed 3 million sales in the UK, meaning the album has now been certified 10x platinum by the British Phonographic Industry.
The Brit School alum has dominated the world music chart since the record's release back in January and has so far sold over 8 million copies of the album worldwide.
