Kelly Clarkson forms band Already Famous

Kelly Clarkson has formed a girl group known as Already Famous.

The American Idol winner tweeted on Friday that she is heading to the studio to record music with her band members and former backup singers Jill and Kate.

"I'm off to Oklahoma to record some songs with @jillandkate! I love random writing and recording with friends!" Clarkson wrote.

The trio already have their own Twitter page @AlreadyFamous3, where they have been tweeting since mid-June.

When asked by a follower why they had decided to form a band, the group responded: "We've been writing & singing together 4 over 4 years so we thought why not record it. We love singing harmony! (sic)."

The Twitter page also revealed that Clarkson will not be the lead singer. Instead, all three members will take the lead on different songs, according to another tweet from the group.

"We switch on different songs," the group wrote. "We all sing lead, alto, and soprano at different points."

Last month, Clarkson insisted that she is not angry over the leak of her new material, telling fans that she cannot wait for them to hear the finished product.

In May, she revealed that her new single will be released in July, though that date has since been pushed back to August or September.
