The 'Foolish Beat' singer insisted that rumours of a rivalry between herself and Tiffany during the peak of their stardom were fabricated by the press.
Gibson told Parade: "We always got along even though there were rumours of a rivalry. They did the same thing to Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, and now with Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. But no, it was definitely not true."
Gibson also recalled her first meeting with Tiffany in the 1980s before taping a performance for British television.
"I think [we met at] Top of the Pops in the late '80s. And then we went to each other's shows. In fact, I saw her and New Kids on the Block perform at Westbury in New York," Gibson said.
She added: "I remember they all came to my 18th birthday party at the Hard Rock Café. We always crossed paths, but we never really stayed in touch at that time because there were no cell phones or texting, so who could stay in touch as a singer? You had to actually use the phone."
Tiffany and Gibson have teamed up for the 'Journey Through the '80s' concert tour, which stops in Cleveland, Ohio tonight and Council Bluffs, Iowa on Friday.
Gibson recently said that she feels sorry for today's teen stars.
