BBC Radio 2 DJ Jo Whiley revealed that she stood with the rapper during the band's gig, where he expressed a keen interest.
"[Jay-Z] watched Elbow with him at Glastonbury, he was just there at the side of the stage," Whiley said.
"Because he is who he is, nobody talks to him, so he just stands there on his own looking a little bit lonely and forlorn, and, because he'd been on the Live Lounge on my show, I stood and chatted to him".
She added: "[He] was saying, 'Tell me about this band, who are they, what have they done?'. [He was] genuinely, really interested, and he did love Elbow."
Whiley also said that the '99 Problems' artist was also fond of singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini, and that he was interested in a possible collaboration in the future.
Jay-Z is currently working with Kanye West on the joint album project titled Watch the Throne, to be released on August 8.
