Kanye West has said that people treat him like he's "insane".

The 34-year-old rapper, who was the headline act at the Herefordshire Big Chill festival on Saturday night, launched into a rant on stage after one of his band members made a mistake during the performance of 'Monster'.

West is quoted by Metro as saying: "I walk through the hotel, and I walk down the street, and people look at me like I'm insane, like I'm Hitler."

West arrived on stage 30 minutes late, telling fans: "This is my most important gig of the summer, but I'm really frustrated. I only have half of my voice. I just want things to be right. This is the reason we started half an hour late."

He also defended his controversial 'Monster' video, which features cannibalism and girls hanging by their necks, saying: "Who saw the video before it got banned, before they took it down and before women's groups started saying that a person that lost the most important woman in his life is now against women in some way?" The "most important woman" he referred to is believed to be his late mother Donda.

At the end of his set, West paid tribute to "beautiful" and "amazing" Amy Winehouse, adding: "Thank you for protecting your artists that are still here. This is for Alexander McQueen, for Amy, for Michael Jackson, and for all the media - can you lighten up on the artists that are still here?"
