The 27-year-old, who was found dead at her London home last month, may also receive a posthumous award following the record-breaking sales of her Back To Black album since her death.
It is believed that some of Winehouse's hit songs may be performed by other artists such as Katy B and Jessie J during the October 5 event.
"In many ways Amy began her career at the MOBOs," an industry insider told The Mirror. "Even before she was famous she would perform acoustically at their launch parties. We are working out a way for her to be remembered during the show itself in terms of artists performing her songs and it's quite possible there will be an award."
Winehouse received a MOBO award in 2007 when she was named 'Best UK Female Artist'.
Fellow musician Pete Doherty recently revealed that he is "bewildered" by his friend's sudden passing, saying: "Coming to terms with what has happened is almost impossible. It's hard to think she's not with us anymore."
