Chambers, most famous for his former partnership with Robbie Williams, has co-written two songs on the X Factor winner's debut album, which is due out later this year.
"He's a cross between Coldplay, Travis and Snow Patrol," he told The Sun.
"It's very accessible but it's also very powerful and emotive. He's got some really good tracks and he's a very nice guy. I've enjoyed working with him."
However, Chambers added that Cardle may find it difficult to be as successful as fellow X Factor champion Leona Lewis.
"I hope he'll be a success but obviously it will be hard for him to compete with Leona Lewis because she is a worldwide hit."
Matt Cardle has previously described his upcoming debut album as "anthemic".
His debut album, a joint venture between Syco Music and Columbia Records, is expected to be released in October.
