'Too Close' marks the first cut from his debut record of original material, and is released on September 4.
Describing the track, Grant said: "To me this isn't your typical sad song, it's about the regret of losing love, when the spark has gone and realising that we sometimes get excited and carried away.
"Sometimes things move too fast and that as hard as it is to say it, even after all we've done, we simply got too close to the sun."
The singer has worked with award-winning producer Andy Wright on the LP, whose credits include Natalie Imbruglia's 'Leave Me Alone' and Simply Red's 'Fairground'.
The star's previous albums, 2006's New Vintage and 2007's Traditional, sold over 200,000 copies combined.
