The duo collaborated on two albums in 2006 and 2008 respectively, gaining worldwide success with their hit single 'Crazy'.
Green, who has previously hinted at plans for new Gnarls Barkley material, said that the pair will get together "very soon" and arrange a suitable time to record.
"We'll definitely get together sometime very soon to start talks about what we collectively agree is the new direction for Gnarls Barkley," he told Rolling Stone.
"We talk on occasion and he's about as preoccupied as I am at the moment, doing other projects. But then again, we might not talk at all and just do it when the time is right because we've never discussed it before."
Green serves as a judge on NBC singing competition The Voice, which returns for season two on February 5, 2012.
