The singer, who is currently preparing to release her new album Better Day on August 29, has made three cameo appearances in the programme, which stars her goddaughter Miley Cyrus.
Speaking to Metro about her modern audience, Parton explained: "I've got a whole new fanbase, including kids who watch Hannah Montana. I turned 65 in January and I started very young.
"It makes you want to write songs that cater to everyone. I've never tried to keep up with the times. I kinda roll with the tide and never lose momentum."
She added: "I just write what's in my gut - it's my therapy and salvation."
Parton is currently on her 'Better Day' world tour. She played US shows last month and will start in the UK at Glasgow's SECC on August 20.
