The clip, which is for new single 'Called Out In The Dark', sees British actor Jack Davenport take centre stage as the group's new frontman.
The 30-second teaser for the video shows Lightbody trying to sneak back on stage to reclaim his mic, but is ushered off by the promo's director.
Davenport is best known for his role as James Norrington, opposite Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom, in the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films.
Snow Patrol's new music video is expected to get its official premiere in the coming weeks, while the single will be released on September 4.
Lightbody recently claimed that Irish rockers U2 are still "hungry to compete" and that they see them as chart competitors.
