The punk-rock band played a number of new songs during an intimate gig at the Tiki Bar 1700 Placentia in Costa Mesa last week, including one titled 'Amy'.
Green Day have yet to confirm that the track is in remembrance of the late Amy Winehouse, but the song's lyrics give a clear indication that it is.
Lines in the track include, "Dirty records from another time", "27 and gone without a trace" and "Did you tattoo a lucky charm?"
Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong sings in the chorus: "Amy don't you go/ I want you around/ Singin' woah, please don't go/ Do you wanna be a friend of mine?"
After playing the song live for the first time, the band posted the lyrics to 'Amy' online.
Other new tracks premiered during the show included 'Nuclear Family', 'Sweet 16' and 'Carpe Diem'.
Green Day wrote on their website after the gig: "We have been in jamming and writing new songs for the last few months. It felt great to play these new Green Day songs live and share our 'work in progress'... Stay tuned for more!"
Prince, Coldplay and her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield have also paid tribute to Winehouse in song.
