The Hancock actor is said to be heading back to the studio with producer La Mar Edwards to record a fifth solo LP.
"We're working on Will Smith, bringing him back," Edwards revealed to XXL Magazine.
Smith released six rap albums with DJ Jazzy Jeff under the guise of the Fresh Prince between 1987 and 1993.
He went on to record the Big Willie Style, Willennium, Born to Reign and Lost and Found albums between 1997 and 2005.
Smith collected eight solo UK Top 5 singles - including a number one with 'Men in Black' in 1997 - before unveiling his last track 'Party Starter' in 2005.
Smith previously revealed that he blew $6m (£3.6m) as a teenage rap star.
