According to The Sun, the 26-year-old singer has pocketed as much as £30m in royalties from her 2010 album alone.
Released last August, the hitmaker has secured five consecutive number ones from the LP with 'California Gurls', 'Teenage Dream', 'Firework', 'E.T.' and 'Last Friday Night', equalling the record set by Michael Jackson's 1987 album Bad.
Earlier this week, songwriter Linda Perry said that artists such as Katy Perry are the reason that the music business is in "turmoil".
