The 'Crash into Me' group were scheduled to bring their Caravan musical festival to Governors Island for three shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Tonight's concert will go ahead as scheduled, but the Dave Matthews Band have axed the two other gigs to avoid performing when Hurricane Irene makes landfall.
Fans with tickets to Saturday and Sunday's concerts have been asked to attend tonight's Governors Island show instead.
Soulive, OAR and Citizen Cope are also on the bill for tonight's Caravan gig.
The Dave Matthews Band have promised to return to Governors Island for two more concerts after the storm subsides.
Matthews will next bring the Caravan festival to The Gorge in George, WA for three dates from September 2 to 4.
