Katy Perry, Adele and Britney Spears were the big winners at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.
Perry took home the night's biggest prize of 'Video of the Year' for her single 'Firework' at Sunday's ceremony, which was held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
The popstar also walked away with the gongs for 'Best Collaboration' and 'Best Special Effects', both of which were awarded for her Kanye West team-up, 'E.T.'

Adele collected three technical awards for her 'Rolling in the Deep' video - 'Best Art Direction', 'Best Cinematography' and 'Best Editing'.
It was initially reported that she also had won the 'Best Direction' accolade, but MTV later issued a clarification stating that the Beastie Boys had won the prize for 'Make Some Noise'.
Spears scooped 'Best Pop Video' for 'Till The World Ends', and was presented with the 'Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award' by Lady GaGa, in honour of her career in the music industry.
GaGa herself won two trophies for 'Born This Way' - 'Best Female Video' and 'Best Video With A Message' - and Justin Bieber picked up 'Best Male Video' for 'U Smile'.

Beyoncé, who announced her pregnancy at the event, won 'Best Choreography' for 'Run the World (Girls)', and Nicki Minaj's 'Super Bass' was named 'Best Hip-Hop Video'.
Tyler, the Creator was named 'Best New Artist' and Foo Fighters nabbed 'Best Rock Video' for 'Walk'.
