Ash drummer Rick McMurray regularly commutes 5,000 kilometres to work with the band every time he is needed.
McMurray's long distance relationship with the rest of the band is brought about as he refuses to move from his home in Scotland.
The rest of the Northern Irish band is currently living in New York, where they are recording their new album.
Frontman Tim Wheeler said, "we relocated here last summer, I'm loving it, but Rick is still in Scotland, he flies back and forth whenever we need him".
