The Florence + the Machine frontwoman revealed that she has discovered how to control her voice since rising to fame with the collective's debut album Lungs in 2009.
Welch told Zane Lowe on Radio 1: "I'm still learning how to sing. I'm learning restraint. When I first started singing, I just used to scream all the time.
"When I first played in pubs and clubs with just an electric guitar it was the only way to get people to pay attention, but I think I've got more control now having performed a lot more. I'm still screaming at some points though."
Florence + the Machine debuted a new track titled 'What The Water Gave Me' last week. The release was to serve as a taster for the band's upcoming second studio album.
The as-yet-untitled second disc will be released on November 7.
