The rocker said that he is a fan of GaGa because she understands the basic elements of transforming oneself to be a star - a practice he has employed throughout his career.
"Lady GaGa is the female Alice Cooper. She totally gets it," Cooper told The AP.
"She created a character named Lady GaGa and wrote songs for Lady GaGa, just as I write songs for Alice. But when you meet her off-stage, she's nothing like that person... and neither am I."
Last weekend, GaGa attended the MTV Video Music Awards as her male alter ego, Jo Calderone and remained in character throughout the broadcast, even utilising the men's restrooms.
Cooper recently performed a duet with Ke$ha entitled 'What Baby Wants'.
