The frontman opened up about the band's next album after performing a benefit concert for Japanese earthquake relief in Los Angeles.
"We just kind of began," Bennington told MTV News. "We like to keep the creative juices flowing, so we try to keep that going all the time."
Despite making a lot of progress, Bennington also said that they still have no idea when the album will be finished.
"We don't know when the next record is going to be done. We are in the beginning phases of that," he explained. "We're still winding down A Thousand Suns and touring for that, so I can tell you we are working and we're excited, and we like the direction that we're going in."
Rick Rubin, who worked on A Thousand Suns and the band's 2007 album Minutes to Midnight, will once again produce the record.
The band were nominated in the 'Best Special Effects' category at this year's MTV Video Music Awards for their video 'Waiting for the End', but eventually lost out to Katy Perry's 'E.T'.
