The singer, real name Lizzy Grant, releases the track backed with 'Blue Jeans' via Stranger Records on October 9.
Del Rey told The Observer: "I just put that song online a few months ago because it was my favourite.
"To be honest, it wasn't going to be the single but people have really responded to it."
She added: "I get very sad when I play that song. I still cry sometimes when I sing it."
Other demos by Del Rey include the tracks 'Driving In Cars', 'Million Dollar Man', 'Hundred Dollar Bill', 'Puppy Love', 'Carmen' and 'Paris', written by Guy Chambers.
