Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Richie Furay were originally scheduled to play a series of dates this fall, but ultimately decided to wait until early 2012.
Furay's manager David Spero insists that Buffalo Springfield are still planning to regroup in 2012, but it will likely be later in the year.
"The plan is still to tour next year. There's not a timeline at this point," Spero told Rolling Stone.
Spero added: "Buffalo Springfield is at the top of Neil's list of priorities. It's just a matter of finding a time that works for everybody."
Buffalo Springfield played together for the first time in more than 40 years at Young's 2010 Bridge School benefit and then headlined the Bonnaroo festival in June.
The group originally split before the release of their third studio album Last Time Around in 1968.
Young would eventually join with Stills, David Crosby and Graham Nash to form the rock supergroup CSNY.
