Speaking to Digital Spy last month, the DJ and Bestival organiser rejected suggestions that this year's nominations were obvious.
"I thought it was another good list," he said. "People may say, 'Oh, Adele and Tinie Tempah - it's a bit safe', but I think they've done an incredible job. No-one could have necessarily seen them coming like they have."
Asked who he wanted to win, he added: "For me it's more Metronomy and Ghost Poet, and obviously PJ Harvey. It's more that kind of thing I'm interested in, but I think right across the board it's a good steady list."
Asked about the prospects for bookies' favourite Harvey, who will play at Bestival this weekend, Da Bank said: "If you look down that list in terms of musicality and being an incredible artist over the last couple of decades then she's nailed it.
"Equally I think the Metronomy album is a brilliant bit of pop music... If I really had to choose one I'd have to say Metronomy.
"On Radio 1, I try to pinpoint the next thing to break, and I've been supporting them for a couple of years. I think it's really well-deserved, but obviously I'm split with PJ as well."
