The singer, who is currently promoting his new movie Friends With Benefits, revealed that he would probably have made another record by now had it not been for his acting career.
Timberlake told Shortlist: "To be honest, my plan would have probably been to do another record, probably right about now.
"I never stop considering myself a musician. To me it's my bread and butter. And I mean that in a personal way - I don't mean that it finances my 'acting hobbies'."
Timberlake confessed that he doesn't take himself too seriously as a music artist and would rather be known as an entertainer.
The 30-year-old explained: "I never cared much about being taken seriously as a musician. I do pop music. I'm not saving the world."
He added: "It's making people forget about their worries, so I've always seen myself as an entertainer. I don't take myself too seriously, so I don't know how to ask anyone else to."
Timberlake won two Grammys and a Brit Award for his second studio album FutureSex/LoveSounds in 2007.
He recently surprised diners in his New York restaurant with an impromptu gig.
