The band's drummer Ronnie Vannucci said that they are planning to start recording the album in Nashville next month and are aiming for a heavier sound.
Speaking to NME, Vannucci explained: "The next album is going to have more guitars. It's about f**king time!"
"We have some people in mind [to produce], but I don't want to p*ss people off and say who it is. All last month we've been writing some great Killers songs, it's really happening.
"I'm really looking forward to doing this next record, it's going to sound f**king great."
Vannucci is currently touring with his band Big Talk, after releasing their self-titled debut back in July.
The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers recently said that the group have written a handful of songs for their fourth studio album, which is expected to be released next year.
