Bestival - Police investigating alleged rape claims by 15-year-old girl

Police are investigating a claim of rape from a 15-year-old girl at Bestival this past weekend.

The alleged victim has reported that she was sexually assaulted during Robyn's set on the main stage at the Isle Of Wight-based festival on Sunday evening.

The attack has been confirmed to have taken place between 7.30pm and 8.30pm and police are asking for any witnesses to come forward.

The alleged attacker is described as black with a large muscular build and braided hair. He is thought to be in his 20s and stands at approximately 6ft tall. He was wearing a white top with navy blue collar and short sleeves.

A spokesperson for Hampshire police stated: "Police are appealing for witnesses who know this man or who may have seen someone matching this description walking with a teenage girl in or near the Bestival main area on the evening of Sunday."

They added: "Officers are also appealing to this man directly to make contact so the full circumstances can be established as soon as possible."

Festival organisers are also assisting with the ongoing investigation.
