The stars spoke out for the Music Matters campaign, which seeks to highlight and engage music fans in realising the value of music and raising awareness of legitimate download services.
Tinie Tempah explained: "Music matters to me because it was the one thing that gave me a passion, a dream, a hunger; something to really live for.
"At the end of the day, everybody can wake up and get on with their ordinary lives, but discovering music and falling in love with it made me realise that I had a purpose; that I had something I wanted to do and had something to work my butt off to achieve."
Katy B added: "It enhances your feelings on everything. It just makes you feel happy. It can just cheer you up instantly.
"When girls break up with their boyfriend, they stick a bit of Adele on. And it makes them feel better. It gives you hope."
She concluded: "Also, why music matters to me is dancing. I love dancing. It's my soundtrack to having a little bit of a boogie."
The Music Matters campaign has gained widespread support from a variety of icons including Kate Bush, Elbow, Iron Maiden and The Beatles.
