Mick Jagger: 'Rolling Stones 50th anniversary tour is unlikely'

Mick Jagger has hinted that a 50th anniversary tour for The Rolling Stones is unlikely to happen.

The legendary rock group will reach the milestone next year, and speculation about a tour arose when they were spotted together in London last week.

However, when asked about a possible tour in 2012, Jagger told The Sun: "Don't hold your breath.

"A band gets trapped. When a band starts as a blues band, it always remains sort of true to that."

Jagger recently admitted that the group would reject any offer to perform at the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony.

The singer is currently working as part of Super Heavy, along with Joss Stone, A.R. Rahman, Dave Stewart and Damian Marley. He added that the supergroup currently have no plans to tour either.

"We haven't planned to do a tour or anything, but if people really like it maybe we will. We'd love to get out and play some of it live.

"As soon as we started playing together in the studio it gelled, and all these different styles didn't seem to be a problem to make them fit together. I hope people will like it."
