The three remaining original members of the Beach Boys have appeared in public for the first time in more than ten years.

Brian Wilson, Mike Love and Al Jardine have avoided each other for years because of an ongoing argument between Wilson and Love.

They put their differences aside, however, to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of their legendary album Pet Sounds with a ceremony on top of Hollywood's Capital Records building.

Bruce Johnston and former, though not original, band member David Marks joined them to receive plaques with two platinum records for 2003 compilation Sounds of the Summer: The Very Best of the Beach Boys.

As he picked up the honours, Al Jardine joked: “It’s always good to do this while we’re still living.”

While Love joked about his – apparently resolved – spat with Wilson. He commented: "There’s issues that arise and you resolve them over time."
